Mexico is a wonderful place to visit, and it’s not all that you hear on the news, especially in the Yucatan Peninsula region. We spent a week exploring the Yucatan and had an amazing time! The welcoming, friendly people, history, art, and of course the food, made for a wonderful experience.
So we wanted to share with you our exact Yucatan travel itinerary – in case you want to do a similar trip around the Yucatan and Cancun areas!

Here is our travel itinerary from our Yucatan, Mexico road trip (total is for 2 people)
Accommodations We Used During Our Trip to the Yucatan Peninsula
Cancun: Oasis All-Inclusive – good location, wonderful pool and outdoor area as well as lots of beautiful beach!
Chichen Itza: Mayaland Resort & Bungalows — incredible place! Perhaps one of the best experiences at a hotel we have ever had. Read our full review of our stay at the Mayaland Resort!
Tulum: Pacha Tulum – very basic hostel / budget hotel. Nothing too special, but a very cheap price, good location, and a yummy breakfast!
Paa Pul: Paa Mul Bungalows – LOVED this place! A thatched-roof bungalow on the beach?!?! It’s a traveler’s dream — and at a very reasonable price compared to other accommodations in the area. It wasn’t luxury, but we didn’t care. It was amazing. This is also where we went scuba diving for the first time!
Activities & Other Expenses for a 1 Week Trip to the Yucatan
MUSA Underwater Museum Snorkeling (we had booked tickets, but couldn’t go because of the weather) = $60
Cenote entrance fees (multiple) = $40 (or you could take a Cenote tour if you don’t rent a car)
Ruins entrance fees (Chichen Itza, Tulum, Coba) = $45
Zip Lining & Adventure Park = $160
Rio Secreto = $130 — and absolute MUST if you are in the area. This was one of our favorite experiences while in Mexico!
Scuba Diving = $200
Misc. Shopping = $100
