As adventure seekers, we love experiencing new things and staying in unique accommodations. And you can’t get much more unique than staying in a luxury Tree House hotel room! When we checked into Historic Banning Mills we knew that we were going to be staying in a Tree House, but neither of us had stayed in one before so we didn’t really didn’t know what to expect. After checking in, the reception staff escorted us to our room. When we arrived the first thing we noticed was that we had to walk across a suspension bridge to get to the Tree House. This alone was was pretty cool, but once we opened the door we were immediately blown away.

Luxurious Amenities in the Tree House
As soon as you open the door you are filled with a sense of relaxation; being in the trees tends to do that. The cozy and comfortable feel of the Tree House hits you right away. Some would think that by staying in a Tree House you may have to sacrifice some of the luxuries of a normal lodging experience, but not here.
Beyond the comfortable kind size bed, our tree house had plenty of space to spread out. There was also plenty of seating and a table with chairs so that we could plan out our exciting day zip lining! The tree house also had a full bathroom (complete with a flushing toilet, in case you were wondering) as well as a large jacuzzi tub; perfect to soak those tired muscles after a full day of zip lining, free falls, and treacherous sky bridge crossings.
You can watch our GoPro video of our zip lining adventure at Historic Banning Mills!
Additional amenities in the tree house includes a cozy gas fireplace for those winter months, as well as a microwave and mini fridge. Our tree house also had a mounted flat screen TV and a DVD player. This was a great feature because in the main lodge they have a selection of DVDs to choose from, so we were able to relax and watch a movie in our tree house that night. We loved it! Last (but not least) our tree house had a wonderfully large outdoor balcony that overlooked the forest. If you want, you can actually pre-arrange for a candlelight dinner on your balcony at night! This is definitely not your childhood tree house!

We also enjoyed relaxing at the main lodge building at Historic Banning Mills. Originally one of the mill buildings in the area, it sadly burned down a few years back. But luckily the owners decided to rebuild, and they did their best to replicate the old building and maintain the ambiance and history. It is a truly beautiful building and is a great place to kick back and relax.
There are plenty of couches for sitting next to the fireplace or windows, as well as good ol’ fashioned wooden rocking chairs to that overlook the beautiful grounds of Historic Banning Mills. You may sit inside and gaze out the windows, or head out to one of the balconies that overlook Snake Creek. From here you can also watch people gliding above you on the zip lines. It is a cool way for those who don’t want to partake in the extreme adventures to be able to watch their friends and family.
