Cruise trips are a great way to see the world, and it’s perhaps one of the most glamorous ways to travel, too! If you’re booking a summer 2016 cruise, and you don’t know where to start, or maybe you’ve been on a cruise before and you just don’t know which company to go with here are a few ideas.

One of the first things you have to think about when choosing a cruise trip is what are your terms? What are your absolute, non-negotiable must haves and do not wants, and then work forward from there.

Destination

The Caribbean? The Mediterranean? How about a river cruise through Eastern Europe? Or even, The Arctic! Another thing about cruises is that they can take you just about anywhere, the only barrier is your imagination.

Think about the places that you’ve wanted to see for years; the cities, the islands, the countries that you haven’t explored yet. Now, check to see which cruise operators go there, and see if they will travel to other destinations nearby, too.

Price

When it comes to booking a cruise, especially a cruise in the summer, price will often be the deciding factor. For years, cruises have been associated with high prices, but the cost of a cruise holiday doesn’t have to cost the Earth. In fact, in many cases it costs much less than you might think it will.

A couple of pointers; if you’re looking to save money, check for deals on cruise sites and see what is included in the price, as some companies will charge extra for the restaurant and the bar. Additionally, think about whether you want an ocean, or an interior view on the ship, as the interior view often costs less than the ocean view option.

Entertainment

Cruise chips are synonymous with onboard entertainment, from cinemas, to live theatre shows, karaoke and, thanks to recent advances in technology, on board sports such as surfing.

These all sound terrific, but is this what you want? If you’re travelling with kids, you’ll be looking for anything to keep them busy, but if you’re travelling alone, or with a group of adults, consider what kind of entertainment you’d prefer. Some cruises offer black tie dinners, or recreational classes during the day, so have a look around and see what’s available.

Booking a summer 2016 cruise will allow you to get out there, see the world, and make new friends, so what are you looking for in your ideal cruise? Why not start looking for the right cruise for you, today?
